Wrightsville Beach, NC
North of Pleasure Island, and direct east from Wilmington, sits the island town of Wrightsville Beach. Accessible by the drawbridge over Banks Channel, Wrightsville Beach is not your typical commercial beach. This island has a fabulous five-mile stretch of sandy beach. At the northern tip of the island is Shell Island Resort, one of only a handful of hotels on the beach. As you travel down Lumina Avenue, the area is dominated by upscale homes with brilliantly landscaped lawns, flowers, and palm trees. Heading south, with the beach to your left, you can catch a glimpse of the numerous boat slips behind houses, with any range of boats in dock.
